The above painting was done in 1969 by Brother Bartholomew at St. Benedict Center.

In 1989 it was presented as a gift to Johannes Cardinal Willibrands, who was then head of the Secretariat for the Unification of Christian Churches.

The Cardinal kept this painting in his private chapel in the Vatican. He also used it as a motif for his work with the Secretariat.

This picture has been made from a photograph of the original painting. The idea for it is taken from Carlo Dolci's Mater Dolorosa.
